Instructor Biographies

Yasmine Yasmine

Yasmine started her journey with Middle Eastern dance in January 1978. She began with Shirna Dance Studio, studying with Peggy King, Shirley Heatherly and Donna Snape (Jasara). Over the years, she discovered her love for the Egyptian style, which she has been developing for over 20 years. Her visits to the Middle East has helped with her unique understanding of the people, culture and dance. Yasmine is dedicated to maintaining the quality of the dance and presenting it as an art form.



Hadassah Hadassah

Hadassah began dancing under the direction of Yasmine from Troupe Sarrab in 2005. Her desire to grow and flourish as a dancer inspired her to practice diligently and learn as much as she could. She enjoys all styles of bellydance, but her focus and passion lies in Egyptian style Raqs Sharqi. She became a teacher in 2006 and enjoys sharing her growing knowledge with her students.



Haneen Haneen

Haneen began her professional belly dancing career in 2002 with Yasmine Al'Abbasi and Troupe Sarrab. For the better part of ten years, Haneen has intensively studied dance both domestically and internationally under the guidance of world-reknown instructors and performers. In addition, she has traveled abroad extensively and her captivating performances echo cultural understanding and sensitivity.



Naia Naia

Naia fell in love with Arabic music during her first bellydance lesson with Sarrab School of Dance in 2004 under the direction of Yasmine Al'Abbasi in Springfield, MO. Seeing dance as a way to express her love and passion for that music, Naia quickly excelled in Egyptian style bellydance, specializing in raqs sharqi, raqs al assaya (cane), veil, double veil, and Isis wings. In 2006 Naia became an active member of Troupe Oasis in West Lafayette, IN. During this time, Naia expanded her repertoire to include Turkish, Lebanese, Persian Bandari, and Khaleegy.



Zaheera Zaheera

Zaheera has been dancing since 2003 and her thirst for knowledge about this art form has led her to attend many workshops with renowned instructors, both locally and across the Midwest, in Chicago, Fayetteville, Little Rock, and Kansas City, and she has performed at a wide variety of workshops, cultural fairs, and civic events across the region. As a dancer and a teacher, Zaheera's dream is to encourage other women to try to embrace their inner dancer, in the hopes that they will continue to grow as both dancers and women.
